Artist Statement:

My work is grounded in the acute observation of natural forms found on the peripheral of traditional landscape imagery. The complexity and multiplicity of decaying leaves, splintered tree trunks, enveloping vines, twigs and moss constitute for me an alien world full of boundless abstract possibilities. Based on the careful attention to details and patterns, this inspired interpretation of the pervasive, often decaying vegetation, into a transformative painterly composition keeps me enthusiastic and motivated.

As a painter it is important that through my work viewers can participate in this process of experiencing nature abstractly, and come to enjoy the often enigmatic scenery that so inspires me; to celebrate the sublime beauty and multiplicity of forms that continually compete for our attention. I hope that my paintings allow for a small private opening into this quiet meditation on the diversity and elegance of the natural world that surrounds us every day.
